This championship course in Angus, Scotland is widely recognised as the toughest test in Open Championship golf. The par 72 course begins with a reasonably gentle introduction, blessing the golfer with a wide fairway that should pose no problems.
Progression through the course proves this parcel of land criss-crossed by burns, hollows, swales and deep traps is a serious challenge indeed. The 413 yard 9th for example, requires a confident drive to avoid landing out of bounds to the left, in a ditch on the right or in any one of numerous fairway bunkers.
